The consequence of stress is what is termed as strain. The strain is the measure of how much distortion has befallen on the body compared to its initial shape due to the action of the force. It is denoted by ϵ.
Formula For Strain
Strain Formula is articulated as,
\begin{array}{l}Strain(\varepsilon )=\frac{x}{L}\end{array}
Where,
- Change in dimension is x,
- The original dimension is L.
Types of Strain
There are three sorts of strain
The longitudinal strain is the ratio of change in length to the original length.
\begin{array}{l}Longitudinal\,Strain(\varepsilon )=\frac{\Delta l}{l}\end{array}
Where,
- Change in length is Δl
- Original length is l
